Hello KMHC newsletter readers -

This month Dr. Venske has asked me to write the newsletter about a topic that I hope is near and dear to all of us....food. Since we cannot live without food and water, I hope you find this newsletter to be useful.

Did you know that the average apple in the US travels 1400 miles to get from the farm where it was grown to your plate, home? That is a lot of food miles, especially since in Wisconsin we are blessed to have so many successful apple orchards.

I am someone who loves local food and strives to eat as locally and seasonally as possible. Sometimes that means that we are eating a lot of tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers (like right now)! Below I have put together some excellent resources for you to learn more about what localvore living can look like. I have also showcased several of the excellent local farms, farmers' markets and even farm store food delivery services we have access to in 2021!

I hope you enjoy the tastes of fall!

Yours in good health,

Lisa (i.e. the KMHC's Marketing & Communications person from Evolution Marketing)

If you want to try your hand at being a localvore or locavore - try sourcing all your food for one week from a local farmers' market.
