Lifestyle Behaviors

Hello everyone!
I hope this newsletter finds you well and excited about life!
We’re entering into the lifestyle behaviors of the Blue Zone inhabitants that pertain to dietary practices. This is such a controversial and confusing subject for so many people we seriously need to focus on keeping it simple.

We have to remember a simple poignant fact about why people in our world are so riddled with chronic disease. Heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are all largely byproducts of our lifestyles. The minute-to-minute decisions we all make are what have the greatest impact on how the quality of our lives (especially the last quarter of our lifespan) will go.

One simple rule of thumb employed by several groups in the Blue Zone community is the 80/20 rule. It all has to do with how much we eat at each sitting. These folks have an ingrained habit of pushing themselves away from the dinner table before they get truly full (80% full). Over time this habit leads to consuming fewer calories. The evidence is overwhelming that those who consume fewer calories than average enjoy a longer and healthier life. No doubt about it. So when you’re sitting down to eat, relax and take your time. Give your body a chance to send it’s signals from your stomach to your brain that you’re starting to fill up. Over time, you’ll feel better, and probably lose a few of the extra pounds you’re hoping to shed!
